2023 Builds

Building Homes, Community, and Hope in McLean County

In 2023, Habitat for Humanity of McLean County will partner with 5 local families to build affordable homes in our community. Learn more about each of the builds and our partner families below. If you're interested in volunteering on any of the build sites, please visit our volunteer page or contact Lindsey (lindsey.jarboe@habitatmclean.org).

Donate to Bill McConnell Memorial Build

William "Bill" McConnell was an integral part of the success of Habitat McLean County for decades. Bill was a volunteer, Construction Manager, Executive Director, financial donor, in-kind donor, member of the Retired Crew, and president of the board of directors. He was also instrumental in establishing and helping to expand the Bloomington ReStore. Bill had envisioned creating more affordable housing for local families by building duplexes. Habitat is honored to bring Bill's vision to life in 2023. The Bill McConnell Memorial Build will be Habitat's first duplex, providing two homes for two families on a single lot.

Donate to Women Build

McLean County Women Build is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year! Since 2003, women have come together to build a home alongside a local family. The goal of Women Build is to empower women to help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Please connect with Women Build on Facebook to stay up to date on all the wonderful celebration events planned for 2023.

Donate to Hero House

The Heroes of Habitat series of houses was launched in 2019 to dedicate one of each build season's homes each year to a local hero. Honorees embody the qualities of selflessness, courage, humility, and service to others. They have made a lasting impact on McLean County and/or Habitat for Humanity. The inaugural home in 2019 was dedicated to Sgt. Joshua P. Rodgers. The next home, started in 2020 but moved to 2022 due to COVID, was dedicated to Sgt. Anthony R. Maddox. The 2023 Hero House is being built in honor of Feli Sebastian.

Donate to Healthcare House

In the late 80's, Habitat McLean County partnered with BroMenn to relocate 4 houses. This collaboration provided 4 homes for local families who needed a hand-up, not a handout, while also paving the way for BroMenn to create a needed parking lot. Since then, various BroMenn employees have partnered with Habitat McLean to build their homes right here in McLean County. This year, Carle BroMenn is partnering with Habitat again by sponsoring the 2023 Healthcare House.
