In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Month, we want to thank all the hardworking folks who help us achieve the mission of building homes, community, and hope. Thank you, volunteers!
Recently, ReStore Volunteer Tom Powers reached a major milestone with us! He has completed over 2,000 hours of volunteer service. The amazing part: he has only been volunteering since 2024! Only 1 other volunteer has also reached this milestone since our tracking system started in 2018.
We are so thankful for Tom and all of his hard work, dedication, and muscle that he brings to the team. Be sure to congratulate him if you see him in the ReStore.

Kicking Off This Year's Recycling Campaign |
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Novelis again this year to collect and recycle aluminum at the ReStore! From now through October, you can drop off your cans (and other aluminum items) at 1402 W Washington St Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm.
Did you know that aluminum can be recycled infinitely? Recycling aluminum is incredibly energy-efficient, requiring only 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum from raw materials.
All aluminum that is dropped off at the ReStore will be recycled, which generates funds for affordable housing. If we recycle at least 500 pounds by October, we will also receive a grant from Novelis!
Remember: every can counts! |

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). In partnership with YWCA, we are hosting teal chairs at both our affiliate office and the ReStore. The Teal Chair Project serves as a reminder that no one has to go through the aftermath of sexual violence alone. The chairs are intended to remind us that sexual violence happens right here in McLean County. YWCA Stepping Stones, McLean County's only 24-hour sexual assault services program, provides free and confidential support services to sexual assault and abuse survivors and their loved ones. Those who seek services receive the information they need to make their own educated decisions about what to do next. Fully trained advocates are on-call 24 hours a day at 309.566.7000.

Illinois Affordable Housing Tax Credit |
IAHTC encourages private investment in affordable housing by providing donors of qualified donations with a one-time tax credit on their Illinois state income tax equal to 50% of the value of the donation. The donor also can choose to transfer the credits to the project, which creates additional project financing through syndication (sale) of the credits.
If you have donated $1,000 or more over the previous 3 years or would like to make a donation, Habitat for Humanity of McLean County intends on completing a state tax credit application in 2026.
To learn more about IAHTC, please check out these frequently asked questions.
If you're interested in participating, please reach out to Erin today. |
