Women Build

The McLean County chapter of Women Build began in 2003 and starts work on their 17th home in 2020 as soon as it is safe to do so. Women Build is exactly what it sounds like - a group of women coming together to build a home alongside a deserving family. No prior experience is needed; we have a talented project director who can teach volunteers anything they need to know.

The goal of Women Build is to empower women to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter, and to guide our local volunteers to improve their communities.

Due to COVID-19, we'll break ground on the 2020-21 Women Build house in the spring of 2021. Once we begin to build, we will implement a safety plan that includes social distancing, disinfecting equipment and tools, and required masks, hardhats, and safety glasses.

Sales have closed. Thank you to everyone who purchased mums. You are helping build a house for a partner family.

Don't forget to pick them up! They'll arrive fresh from the local grower on September 30th. Pickup is 4-7PM in the ReStore parking lot, 1402 W Washington. Unfortunately, we will NOT have mums for sale at pickup. We ordered just enough to fill pre-paid orders.

The Women Build team not only physically builds a home each year, they contribute financially as individuals and through fundraising initatives. Unfortunately, they cancelled their main annual fundraiser in 2020 to keep everyone safe and healthy. Bunco Blitz will definitely be back in 2021. Watch our social media posts for other Women Build fundraisers that can be done using social distancing.
