Family Services Update

We are excited to offer our Habitat families instructional/educational classes pertaining to the many facets of homeownership. Our goal is to ensure that Habitat families become effective homeowners and empowered people by teaching knowledge, skills and attitudes conducive to effective living -- presented in a lively and interesting manner.

We want to create a culture of continuous learning and sharing amongst the Habitat families. To achieve these goals, we will be partnering with leaders, teachers, pastors and community organizations and businesses; many of our partners have already established curriculum and outreach in the areas in which we need their expertise. These groups can provide services in areas beyond Habitat’s mission.

Our pilot curriculum will include workshop classes on the following topics:

Communication and Conflict Management
Managing Emotions
Respect for Self and Others
Home Safety
Neighborly Ways
Community Involvement (Spiritual resources, PATH referrals and resources)
Budget Decorating
Basic Computer Skills
Home Maintenance Workshop with Community Action
Hands-on Home Maintenance Overview

Stay tuned for updates as we implement these workshops into our Family Support portion of Habitat’s ministry.
