Collegiate Chapter Announce House blessing Collegiate Chapter House Blessings scheduled for April 24h The hard work, dedication and leadership of the Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan Collegiate Chapter will be celebrated, along with the completion of their 15th and 16th consecutive homes, this spring. The chapter will celebrate with two Habitat-partnering families, the Waller and Jolly families, as they come together to recognize the hard work and dedication that went into building these two homes. The Collegiate Chapters broke ground with the two families on August 29th, 2009 and have been working non-stop ever since. Each Saturday during the fall, college students worked with Natalie Waller and Coretta Jolly as they constructed their new homes. Work temporarily halted over the winter homes and resumed in February. In addition to the on-site construction work; students have been hard at work fundraising and advocating in the community. The house blessing will also recognize a new accomplishment in building for Habitat and the Collegiate Chapter. These two homes will be the first single family homes to be certified as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) homes in McLean County. The chapter has been working towards a gold rating, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. House blessings are open to the public and we encourage you to please join Habitat as we celebrate with the Waller and Jolly families and the collegiate chapter on April 24th, 2010 at Noon – 1204 & 1206 Grove Street, in Bloomington. |
